Developing Our Strategy
How did we develop the new Waste Matters Strategy?
- A Waste Working Group was formed, with community representatives, to help Council guide the strategy development process
- We reviewed our current services, programs and initiatives
- We examined available waste facilities that can accept and process our waste
- Extensive community consultation was undertaken on the future of how we manage our Shire’s waste
- We talked to the waste industry to identify their current capability
- We looked at how other communities are managing their waste
- We identified and evaluated our options, outcomes and costs
- A draft waste strategy was developed
- Community feedback was sought on the draft strategy
- The new waste strategy was adopted and implemented
What key issues were considered in the Waste Matters Strategy?
